Building on COM's First Classified Staff Professional Development Day

October 28th, 2016 - 4:24pm

In mid-October the College held its first Classified Staff Professional Development Day. The overwhelming response both verbally and on participant surveys was very positive. Special thanks to all the presenters and those whose contributions made the day’s activities a success: Jonathan Eldridge, Sara Lefkowitz, David Patterson, Sadika Sulaiman Hara, Stacey Lince, Javier Urena, Meg Pasquel, an amazing panel of student speakers, Jim Stopher, Gina Longo, Dave Mahoney, Lindsay Bacigalupi, Kathy Joyner, Gabe Lambert, Jon Gudmundsson, Beth Patel, Tonya Hersch, and Connie Lehua.

Many attendees expressed that they hoped to see more professional development days for staff scheduled, and we hear you! That feedback is being taken to heart and the Professional Development Committee is open to any additional ideas that come to mind for future events. In the meantime, employees are reminded that they have access to fee waivers for credit classes. In order to take advantage of this benefit employees must sign up for classes, then fill out an employee fee waiver form and submit it to the Enrollment Services Office. (Fee waiver does not include materials or transportation fees.)
