Filming of six new TEDTalks will take place at the Kentfield Campus Saturday, September 17, 6 p.m. in the James Dunn Theatre. The TED event includes: The live filming of six new TEDTalks in the theatre, a gala attendee reception (700+ attendees) with light appetizers catered by Good Earth Natural Foods, great complimentary wines, coffee bar from Equator Coffees, an innovative company showcase with demos and executives in Fine Arts Gallery from prominent nonprofits and interesting start-ups, including virtual reality and artificial intelligence demos, followed by a post-talk dessert reception/meet-and-greet with the speakers in the Performing Arts Lobby catered by Urban Remedy. And, since this year’s event happens on a Saturday, the evening will conclude with an after-party with the speakers at a nearby lounge/restaurant.
The final speaker program is posted at the TEDxMarin website, and includes one of our own—Community Education Instructor Mehri Dadgar.
College of Marin faculty and staff can purchase discounted conference badges online. Those interested in attending should register soon as this event always sells out in advance.
What is TEDx?
In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, The TED conference (made famous by its TEDTalks) created an initiative called TEDx. This is a program of licensed, local, self-organized TED events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. Our local version is called TEDxMarin, where x = independently organized TED event. At our Marin event, live speakers, TED Videos and social interaction will combine to spark deep discussion and connection in our community. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events, including ours, are self-organized.
For event questions call the TEDx Production Office at (415) 785-8873.
NOTE: Must be registered before August 15 (if tickets remain). Advance registration is required to attend.
