Ross Valley Players production of H.M.S. Pinafore, featuring a number of College of Marin's own, received a fantastic review by critic Alexa Chipman. Directed by James Dunn, the musical featured choreography by Sandra Tanner Mack (dance), set design by Ron Krempetz (drama), and photography by Robin Jackson, COM's former Drama Department production technician.
The review describes how Krempetz's set ingeniously used hatches as actual stage entrances, and use of ladders that invited the audience onto the ship with its crew. Tanner's choreography was praised for inventively using the confined space, creating patterns that added to the comic charm of the different musical numbers. She was also praised for her ability to unify characters with varying levels of dance capabilities through simple, rather than flashy, steps.
