Communication Instructor Andrea Brown travels to Bochum, Germany this week to present her research on “Threading Hope: Afro-Pessimism and Whiteness” at the Intersections of Whiteness International Conference at Ruhr-Universität Bochum and TU Dortmund, held January 11 to 13. The conference, sponsored by the German Research Foundation (DFG), aims to discuss the current state of critical whiteness/race studies in the light of current developments and events such as the rise of right-wing populism, the Black Lives Matter movement, the Brexit vote, the refugee crisis, and much more.
