Goats and Sheep Graze at IVC to Mitigate Fire Danger

October 24th, 2016 - 1:04pm

To mitigate fire danger and create a defensible space around the Indian Valley Campus (IVC), the College has hired a CAL FIRE certified firm to reduce brush in difficult areas without the need for gas powered equipment. Approximately 600 goats and sheep (plus a llama!) will be grazing on IVC's hillsides for a little over a week to mitigate fire danger. The animals' owner will be on site 24/7. Animals should not beĀ approached or feed as they are behind an electrified fence. Those enjoying the campus trails with small children and/or pets should be mindful of this and use caution near the areas where animals are grazing.
