COM’s Graduation and Completion Rates
The College is responsible for reporting student outcomes to the California Community Colleges Chancellor’s Office (CO) and the U.S. Department of Education (IPEDS). Both agencies publish COM’s student completion rates, but define “completion” differently and include a different set of students in their calculations.
The most recent completion statistics are available for students who started COM in 2010. The comparison below shows the difference between the IPEDS graduation rate and CO completion rate for the 2010 cohort. The IPEDS rate is much lower and includes students earning an AA/AS degree at COM within three years. The CO rate spans six years and includes students who transferred to a four-year institution. See PRIE’s Fact Book for rates by race/ethnicity and gender.
